Ian Lewis

Two more years

It’s official !!

We have to put up with Ian Lewis for at least another two years. After lengthy negotiations with the Shire Ian can confirm that his current contract has been extended by two years.

Ian also wants us to know that after some “give and take” terms re the use of Ugly Betty as water taxi has been agreed to between the Shire and Ian. This will be welcome news. As the alternative of retuning to the old water taxis was of genuine concern to many.

Ian advises us that there will not be a lengthy October Outage this year.

He understands that the “short notice” Outages are an interruption to Islanders and visitors alike. Please be assured that it is always a last resort action and Ian is conscious of the inconvenience this causes all of us. If possible advanced notice is given through the local press, the Island Website Email notification service and the two notice boards near either end of the ferry access.

Ian also advises us that he is in close liaison with the Islands Bushfire Preparation Committee, also the Shire and that a joint announcement re the use and associated issues concerning the Ferry in case of an emergency will be communicated to the Islanders.

It is Ian’s intention to hold an “Access to Ugly Betty during floods “exercise within the next three month. We will be advised of this through the normal channels.

Finally Ian wants to once again remind us of the “Ambulance Protocol “

If you need to order the ambulance there is NO need to alert the Ferry..... The ambulance will contact the ferry to make the transporting arrangements

(anytime, day or night)

The Ferry mobile is on the Time Change page
