Community Morning Tea

Aim: to allow residents and friends to meet and mix in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. It is usually a non fundraising event. However, if a good cause presents itself, we will support it and let people know well in advance.

The morning tea on 18th May was in aid of the Jane McGrath
Foundation. Alma’s Restaurant donated lovely hot scones and a $50 meal voucher as first prize in the raffle. The Monday and Wednesday Tai Chi Groups donated their takings. As a result, $188 was forwarded
to the Foundation to fund Breast Cancer Nurses.

Since then monies have been donated to Paynesville Ambulance and used to purchase tables for the Community Hall.

Morning Tea is the 3rd Monday of the month at the Raymond Island Community Hall at 10.30am.   Entry is a gold coin donation to cover costs. Those who are able, please bring a plate.

Councillor Michael Freshwater (now Mayor of our Shire) attended our final Morning Tea for 2009. Four lucky people won door prizes this month. Janneke Schimmel has decided to bow out as co-ordinator and was thanked for her hard work in making these get-togethers such a success each month. She set a high standard for those who are to step in.

Consistently good attendances have ensured that this function will continue in 2010. The first Morning Tea will be on February 15th.

Members of the RICA social sub-committee have agreed to take over from Janneke.
