A few weeks ago we offered you a KAYAK for sale. BUT you had to wait until the children left home.
Almost ready to leave home
Almost ready to leave home

Below is a story as it appeared on the web during November 2011.
Before you scroll down we have to tell you this; The van Mannen's home could easily be called:
“The Breeding Palace of Raymond Island”.
It seems that not a pigeon can fly past their place without wanting to nest there. So far this season, which has a long way to go, has seen at least three pairs who have bred or are breeding there.
The Van Maanens felt that the latest tenant had chosen a hanging basket which was in line with the edge of the laser light roof and the young would simply drown if it rained. So they removed the basket and placed on the floor to discourage the bird from nesting there. Did that work? Of course not, the birds simply found another basket which would have produced the same result if it rained.
This time there was an added complication. There was one egg in the nest. So the two decided to purpose-build a hanging nest resembling a conventional basket.
Barbara built one, Gerry waited until the pigeon was off the nest, swapped the basket for the one Barbara built, put on a pair of gloves, transferred the nesting material of the basket, lifted the egg and transferred all of this to the new home being safe from any downpour. The pigeon returned and continued sitting on the egg as if nothing had happened. Last time the Van Maanens looked there were two eggs.
Mission accomplished !
