IMPORTANT NOTICE
27 April 2012
Dear Raymond Island residents
You may have noticed that a large, old tree has today been removed from the Ferry Park.
The Shire’s arborist recently undertook an inspection of the tree due to the apparent risk of a large limb falling.
Following the inspection, which confirmed the risk, the intention was to remove a large, unsafe limb. Upon the removal of the limb, the main trunk of the tree was found to be rotten with evidence of white ant infestation.
We appreciate the concern of community members regarding the tree’s removal. We are sure you will understand that once a tree has reached such a state of poor health, the Shire’s over-riding responsibility is for public safety.
Thank you.
