It's a cable ferry across the Pieman River at Corinna on the West Tasmanian Coast, known as "The Fatman Barge". Takes 2 cars and costs $20 one way.
I was even allowed to pilot it myself, including dock on the other side! The driver doubles as chef at the classy Corinna restaurant. If you can' t read the print on the photo of the sign, it says......
"The Fatman Barge".

Hi
Here is another ferry. A very simple operation and easy to maintain as all the mechanicals are on the deck.
It is the Jardine River ferry nearly at the top of Cape York Peninsula, $80-00 return valid for a month only.
Cheers Garry Kenner

(Note - there's only about 20 metres between the carpark, info centre and kiosk!)

How To Get On Barge:
1. Drive up and down carpark looking for bridge.
2. Park at Information Centre.
3. Then park in car park.
4. Drive to kiosk and ask is Barge Operator still in bed, or how do you get across on Barge if there is no operator.
5. The quickest and easiest way is when you are ready, Park on the road at STOP sign and operator will come.
