Koala fund raising New Years Day 2012

A team of Islanders (and one visitor) collected donations for the KOALA Shelter and Rescue fund.
The result was a $ 722.00
The team is particularly appreciative of Ian Lewis’s support.

The Island volunteers were:

Melody & Brianna Tomkins, Sylvia Galaway & Dianna (a visitor from Melb.)

We raised $ 722.00 from the collection on New Years day.
Our aim is to collect during holiday periods to get some funds from the visitors, and as usual the locals also give .
The money is needed to cover Vet fees and medication.
The Vets do a lot for free but blood tests and antibiotics and operations are expensive.
At the time of collection we had a koala in care that was caught in a rabbit trap
the damage that was done has so far needed 2 operations and lots of antibiotics.
Sam , will need to be in care for many weeks to come with hope of release and a full recovery.
We need to do ongoing collections for our koalas and are aiming at the holiday market.
