A message from Ian Lewis

After an outage and a back log of cars
waiting I often use 2 staff, one driving, the other directing the boarding and we always load 21 cars (or the equivalent) per trip.

With one staff  on duty and car drivers boarding unaided we average 17 cars (or the equivalent) per trip.

In  off peak times that does not matter, but at peak times (mornings, afternoons, holidays ) we have to make additional trips because we do not maximise the ferry’s capacity .

Please click on the pictures on the right and have a look at the space between  cars.

I draw your attention to this for your consideration.

Thank you

Ian Lewis

ps : Remember to switch off your engine and engage the handbrake

Previously  I send out a message asking
people to park closer to the car in front.
(Scroll down and note previous message below.)
For a while  that worked
That is no longer the case !!

Please park as close as possible to
the car in front

Also drivers who are first in a lane
should park
as close as possible to the ramp

Currently we average 17 cars
( or equivalent ) a trip.

We should average 21

As a result we make an extra 5 trips a day, say :
25 trips a week, or 1300 extra trips a year.
This is close to an extra 4 % of total trips pa.

That  is an unnecessary cost as well as extra
wear-and-tear on the ferry.
As ratepayers this ferry belongs to ALL of us !
Be part of reducing this unnecessary extra
cost !

Ian Lewis

ps : Remember to switch off your engine and engage
the handbrake
Are you leaving too much space
between you and the car in front ?
