Don Lewis
Don Lewis's family were ardent photographers and he has kindly offered to share some of their photos with us.
At times the information about them is a little vague. Nevertheless we trust you enjoy the journey.
If you want to get in touch with Don : EMAIL
A steamer on the Mitchell with the silt jetties. We think it is the J.C.Dahlsen, circa 1944
"Back to Cranebourne"
The gentleman is Don s Great Grandfather. The car we think is an ESSEX.   1924
Also 1924. It looks like a "T" model. The little girl in the middle was Don s Mother.
Bulga Park . Tarra Valley
Late 40 s early 50 s
Looks as if it could be  Gunya Junction
Strzelecki Ranges late 40 s early 50 s
Tarra Valley Footbridge
The bridge is still in use to-day
Tarra Valley

Scout camp  58
at Gillwell Park, upper ridges Latrobe River
Not sure of the year
Grandfather with his Pontiac. Almost certainly at Bairnsdale Racecourse

We think this around Inverloch,  South Gippsland

No Idea !
Could be Geelong in the early  50 s
NOW COMES  SOUTHERN CROSS

Don's Father was a Kingsford Smith fan.
Looking at old newsreels, he was by no means the only one.
scroll down for some remarkable  photos of the SOUTHERN CROSS plane
Don s best guess is that this was either in Morwell or Traralgon
In the family s lounge room....on carpet!  The model plane was made by Don s father
Morwell or Traralgon
Guess where ?.....Carpet again
The man himself. The lady on his right is believed to be in her 90 s and went for a joy ride. Don best guess is that that photo was taken in the local area.
The Entrance circa  44
Reeves Channel
The old bridge at Lakes Entrance

Last but NOT least !

Yallourn  open cut.

We have no date, but it must be in the early days as the cut is still very shallow. Not deep at all. It could well have been the first Chain and Bucket dredger as opposed to the subsequent Bucket Wheel
