Coast Guard
Paynesville Coast Guard is a voluntary organisation which aims to:

1        promote safety in boating in the Gippsland Lakes.
2        assist in the preservation of life and property;
3        assist persons in danger on the waters of Gippsland Lakes;
4        train Flotilla members and the public in all aspects of seamanship.

Search & Rescue
Paynesville Coast Guard has a modern 7.6 metre High Speed Rescue Vessel capable of operating throughout the Gippsland Lakes (and offshore if necessary). 

The Flotilla’s Rescue Vessel is regularly on the water:
        assisting vessels in difficulty and (if necessary) towing disabled vessels to safety;
        conducting member training exercises;
        participating in Search and Rescue operations (in conjunction with Water Police - Paynesville).

Radio Operations
Paynesville Coast Guard operates a marine radio base providing:
        Radio support for The Flotilla’s Rescue vessel;
        Support for vessels plying the Gippsland Lakes;
        Support for vessels travelling offshore (in Eastern Bass Strait);
        Support for vessels crossing the Lakes Entrance Bar. 

Our base currently operates 7 days a week during daylight hours.  Frequencies monitored include:
        Channel 16 (VHF);
        The new long distance repeater sited on Mount Taylor (Channel 80 VHF);
        Channel 88 (27 MHz band);
