An invitation to participate in
The First Abbey Program

May – October 2011

The refurbished accommodation units at The Abbey of St Barnabas offer eight 31/2 star motel style rooms, wonderful accommodation for The First Abbey Program, May—October 2011.
The First Abbey Program will comprise retreats and workshops following the four themes:
Hospitality: being welcomed by the environment
Journey: allowing the environment to nurture you
Sustainability: water, power, waste and fire
Natural Environment: caring for flora and fauna
Some of the particular workshops and retreats envisaged include: open and directed retreats; welcoming the stranger; justice and the environment; vocation: issues of meaning and purpose; journey to hope: living with grief and loss; water/textile work and prayer; air, wind and music; fire and dance; earth and art; pilgrimage; plants and animals of Raymond Island. There will also be ‘work weeks’ and ‘environment weeks’.
This first Abbey Program will be a significant milestone in the
development of its vision as a centre for Spirituality and the Envi-ronment. We invite the ‘Diocesan family’, other long time support-ers and interested people to become involved: pray, participate in one of the workshops or retreats, or offer to co-ordinate one.
